Playing xbox & wii games with family & associated friends
@charlie_elise I knew there was something else you wanted me to do last night - set up the wii!
@glitchkitty I’ve got Prime - very useful, and well worth it if you order lots of stuff
Ok, think i’ve frozen my backside enough in this office today, time to head home.
@TechBabe short weeks would be good if people didn’t try to jam 2 weeks worth of work into them!
popping out to get some lunch from somewhere warm
Thinking about bringing in an electric radiator tomorrow to heat the office up a bit
Wondering why the office seems to be getting colder as the day goes on
In the office wearing my coat because it is sooo cold
@akyan Yeah. I really think it is time for a change in government - unfortunately, there is no acceptable party who can take over
New blog post: Cinema-style content ratings for websites http://tinyurl.com/83equf
@ruskin147 @TechcrunchUK has written a good piece - i’m planning on penning something this evening to look into it in a bit more detail
Back in work after christmas - Cardiff is dead, no traffic and buses running a saturday service for some bizarre reason
Nadolig Llawen everyone
Heading home early(ish) for christmas. Now officially on holiday till… monday!
Happy Birthday @Triard / @Jonhurlock
@shepherdnick sucks doesn’t it!
In work all xmas eve - fun :-(
@IanTucker a bit of a nightmare - we have a whole load of extra events in our .net pages as part of our core cms. :-P
New blog post: Designer’s block http://tinyurl.com/a4yjn7
Well that is probably the smoothest wordpress upgrade i’ve done so far.
Taking the jump and upgrading to wordpress 2.7 - lets hope it all goes ok *fingers crossed*
Feeling like death warmed up. :-( Been ill more times in the last 6 months than the whole 4 years at university
Suffering from designer’s block (if such a thing exists)
heading home a bit early so I can concentrate on designing a new website
@idesignstudios just to expand a bit - 25 deposit, 50 on completion, final 25 on acceptance for me :-)
@idesignstudios 25/50/25
@gimboland I hate the banner system we use - when I get some spare time i’m going to rewrite it to make it work with no JS enabled
@idesignstudios i never used to, but experience has taught me that it is best… so ALL new project work requires a deposit
@jonhurlock thanks :) i’m very proud of that one
@jonhurlock i’d love to do stuff like that but the boss doesn’t understand these things and “the client hasn’t paid for it”
New site launch: The Greens of Southern Wales http://tinyurl.com/6c44pc
@shepherdnick there isn’t really a point in getting annoyed at it - although i could do with taking my own advice on this regularly!
@glitchkitty good point - I hadn’t noticed you could only get those 2 colours here! Doesn’t bother me though, already have a black one :-)
Today has been an absolute farce - yet another day with nothing done
@gimboland of course, thats just my take on understanding social media - i’m sure there are plenty of other ideas ;-)
@gimboland you need to participate in the community.. it isn’t just a one way affair like traditional media
@gimboland in this case, understanding social media is realising that you can’t just pump out blogs, podcasts, youtube videos and tweets…
@akyan understanding social media is key. you can’t just give someone the title a title like ‘social media officer’ and expect it to work
@tombeardshaw good point
@tombeardshaw @MartinSFP i don’t think they are forward thinking enough to do it properly
Question: we all saw how successful social media / “web 2.0” was for Barack Obama - will any of our political parties have the same success?
RT @sizemore asked the Tory social media guy for his Twitter name: “Well, I’m not on there personally” Big ‘oh fuck’ from around the table
@frosty but in answer to your question - yes as you provided them. if they didn’t take one earlier, tough luck!
@frosty in our office there wouldn’t be any left within 30 seconds of them being offered!
Reached my limit… packing up and going home
6pm on a friday and i’m still in the office :-(
Getting nowhere
Just spent the last half hour signing christmas cards - now back to actual work
Scrapping this system and starting from scratch for the 4th time
Eating a cold lunch that has been sat on my desk for the last hour because its one of those days
@charlie_elise the English Democrats actually got some votes - 1,867 according to wiki http://tinyurl.com/6qvmn3
@glitchkitty @frosty i’d like to see sources too if they are available :-P
@glitchkitty @frosty Hereford part of Wales?! :-o
Dealt with my first “SERIOUS ERROR” on an overnight data import this morning. The import errored when logging an error!
@idesignstudios I’ll probably be waiting for a while to see if any problems happen - but any new implementations will be on 2.7 from start
@seanhandley Crap :-(
working through lunch *again* because we have too much to do and no time to do it
Wordpress 2.7 has been released :-) will have to have a play around with it this weekend
Amazed by the complete lack of foresight when this site was built last year
@tobeon in the cases of many small companies, they haven’t passed the cut on - they’re just keeping the extra money for themselves.
Still feeling the after effects of the VAT rate cut - just found a bunch of old systems with the old value hard coded
@dancraggs just our office at work - we normally have to have air con running 24/7/365 but not today!
Small office with many computers & servers has been warm for 6 years. Feeling a bit chilly today!
@akyan lol - Fixed width CSV, COM and VB6 - worked with all of them today!
Working with a fixed width datafile for the first time in 6/7 years. Who uses fixed width anymore?!
@glitchkitty still working with VB?
Cleaning even more items off my task list having made good progress yesterday
@charlie_elise any reason why?
@mallmus there are £95 FOWD tickets? how did I miss that?!
Spending a day delving into bug fixes and cleaning stuff off my to-do list
Looks like I’m going to be here for another few hours :-( so much for finishing on time tonight
@idesignstudios @nebrow It is a bit insane. From what I understand,the project cost has been billed already, so its just them who loses out
@idesignstudios @nebrow that’s nothing! We’ve got a project going on 12 months because of slow client responses.
Spent yesterday working in Welsh, today in Spanish. Really difficult bearing in mind I have virtually no knowledge in either language
Been in work since 7.30 and only finished off 1 task (which was from yesterday’s list)… running a little behind schedule!
@charlie_elise I have too much work to do :-(
Annoyed that i’m going to miss Ignite Cardiff tonight :(
Digging into an old content management system to find out how it works
Hit so many walls today. Given up on main project - trying to fix a few bugs then heading home.
Still can’t understand why .NET doesnt’t support listboxes with optgroups
@bash Netvibes has been struggling for a few days for me. It was just returning blank pages last night.
